How to Maintain Kinky Twists and Scalp Massages While Wearing Kinky Twists or Braids

This is the first part of the series that contains “How I Maintain Kinky Twists” and “My hair care routine while in kinky twists, braids. Regardless of the type of twists style or braids hairstyles you are wearing, you can use these steps in the series.

How I maintain twist braids hairstyles, how I wash kinky twists, and my hair care routine while I’m in twist or braids is a three part series.

Maintaining Kinky Twists

I wrap my hair every night in a satin bonnet if I’m wearing it down to protect the curls and protect my hair or I’ll use my satin scarf if I’m going to put my hair up in a ponytail. I slick my edges down with 100% Aloe Vera gel. This is also included in my current products video.

I keep my hair moisturize by using my leave in spray or leave in conditioners:

Some awesome leave in that I have used and love are:

•Aussie moist leave in spray

•Oyin Handmade’s Juices and Berries Spray

•Wonder Eight oil spray

•My Homemade Water spray of 1 part vegetable glycerin and 2 parts water

•Sometimes I will just use water and seal with a light oil

You have to use leave in to keep your hair moisturized, moisture is very important! It’s one of the keys to healthy hair growth. I know that there are other braid sprays out there but I have tried a few that I just did not like. Some of the ingredients were not good for black hair regardless if you are natural, relaxed, or transitioning.

I have also spent countless hours reading and watching videos on braid spray products and I did not like the reviews and results on others who have kinky twists or braids. Two of which stood out where African royal braid spray and African braid spray.

I have a sensitive scalp and I did not want to use just any product on my hair and cause irritation. So I choose to not repurchase or buy the product.
